Giving up the Ghost

Giving up the Ghost

Operating on a shoestring budget, I use my props to their limits. This Gerbera Daisy was taking it's last breaths of life :{)))

Purple Springs Spider Gerbera

Purple Springs Spider Gerbera

Only run thru Perfectly Clear and Photoshop(to remove a fly away petal.) Using a DIY background and filters to bring it to life.

Oh Lily

Oh Lily

A lily from one of our local(city) gardens. Hiding down one of the pathways, I was blessed to stumble upon it. An SOOC shot, not even processed in Perfectly Clear or any of the Adobe programs.

Buddies

Buddies

Some props purchased at the store. Bringing a nice blend of contrasting colors to the photo. Sight darkening in Photoshop with a vignette.

Grimy Friends

Grimy Friends

Taking "Buddies" to the outer limits. Processed in Topaz Texture Effects, "Mechanics Grunge" and droplets applied to add some character.

Fireman's Flame

Fireman's Flame

Just outside the local fire station. Awesome deep and varied tones of color, so just had to snap one. Camera's capture didn't do them justice, so I sent them to the post processing court. Topaz Glow's "Fur and Feather II" added the new life needed.

Painterly Effects

Painterly Effects

A Lily around one of the apartment complexes I've worked at, busting out in bloom a short while after getting my camera. So, of coarse, I had to snap one. This version, run thru Topaz Impressions to add a little spice :{)))

Not Always

Not Always

Not Always, proves that there are some awesome color in south Texas plants. This is an Orchid Tree in bloom, a short time after some heavy rains. Normally, the flowers aren't this deep of a purple(?), so I captured it while I could. Several days later, they were nearly white, with just a purple tint !?!

Look Closer

Look Closer

A macro of my Gerbera props. Not as close as I could of gotten, but trying things out.

Drawn In

Drawn In

Not sure if this is a Hydrangea, or what, but the colors are awesome.

Star Gazing

Star Gazing

A Star Gazer Lily from the store. Where I get most of my props. Moving in with my Kit lens(18-55 Nikor). Close enough though, you'd get pollen on your nose if you got any closer :{)))

Orange Burst

Orange Burst

Another Gerbera and another with the kit lens. One's got to put to use, that which they have :{)))

Softly Glowing

Softly Glowing

With numerous small gardens around town, one never knows what they can find blooming. Always a good idea to carry one's camera when out and about :{)))

Sisters

Sisters

A pair of props, Gerbera Daisies. Plain and simple, sitting on a black poster-board background. One of my early shots, before I remembered "that separation" is a key to good photos.

Texas Olive

Texas Olive

A common Plant/tree around the area, blooming for the greatest part of the year. Gracing us with many chances to be inspired to snap more shots. Know as the Texas Olive, though not related to olives at all. Called this, due to it's fruit resembleing an olive.

That's Close Enough

That's Close Enough

The name is a warning. For "That's Close Enough" is such. This Mexican Toothpick cactus has some long thorns. This one's young, so they're only four inches or so, but plenty enough to seriously hurt the inattentive admirer :{)))

Glory in the Morning

Glory in the Morning

Capturing that which is around you. That which you see, that others just may not. Bringing it to their attention, the best you can. In a way, that's the life of a photographer :{)))

Faded Into Glory

Faded Into Glory

Going into Impression 2 again with a raw photo. Using Chiaroscuro in the Painting effects and then switching it into "Color" mode. Liking this add on more and more with each usage :{))) (I do mean this was a RAW image to start with, taken, yet never processed in any manor.)

Lola RAW

Lola RAW

Basically an SOOC shot, except for a few dirt flakes removed via Photoshop. Just to prove, I can produce straight photos :{)))

Sweet Perfection

Sweet Perfection

Only minor contrast adjustments in Lightroom, a run thru Perfectly Clear and some dirt removal. Not quick, but thorough, only some hidden flaws left on purpose :{)))

Plain Jane

Plain Jane

Going back into my archives, to find something to work with. Cropped this, resized it, cleaned it up(some dead leaves(some, left some for flavor)), and then treated it in Glow. A little on this slider, some on that one, not too much, but just enough.:{)))

Ginger Bud

Ginger Bud

From phone, thru programs, to end up here. The only shot I was blessed to get of these, because they were at work. Had to take the long road to get it enlarged and online for others to enjoy larger:{)))

Brainiac

Brainiac

One from an old shot of props bought at my local store. The original(Look Closer) was fine, though I saw that it could be more than it was. So a trip through Topaz Glow, "Whisker Wires 2" this time. Which brought out more texture and deepened the dynamic contrast over the whole image :{)))

One Pod or Two

One Pod or Two

Just like your coffee, how do you like it, "One Pod or Two." (Don't ask me where I get these names:{))) ) Very little done to this volunteer, it was in one of the alleys I walk through while taking care of my weekend chores. So, of coarse, I snapped a quick one. Only run through Perfectly Clear and with a little cleanup in Photoshop(couple spiderwebs and a "stray" piece of flower sticking in at an odd angle.)

Redeyed

Redeyed

You wouldn't think that flower photography would be that hard. Then try it with 20+ mph wind gust :{))) Still blessed to get several good shots of these Yellow Hibiscus flowers.

Don't Fence Me In

Don't Fence Me In

One that's been around for some time, though in another form, straight photo. Having been shot in terrible lighting conditions, a 1600 ISO was needed. This, thanks to the D3100's bad low light abilities, resulted in a noisy photo. Hence it was rejected for sale through one of my related sites.

So, I did what had to be done to recover a beautiful shot, I ran it thru several post processing programs until the final results came to life. This is it, after 4 programs and six separate treatments :{)))

Once Again Too

Once Again Too

A second take on a photo that's for sale, hence my play on "Too."  One, run several additional times thru Topaz Glow 2. Using different presets and blending modes, to darken the background and center one's focus on the flowers themselves :{)))

Hanging Purple

Hanging Purple

A beautiful vine, alluring one in. "Photograph me, if you care." The "SOOC" print was fine, yet it needed just the slightest of boost, so off to post we went. Perfectly Clear Complete, Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz Glow 2 and back to Photoshop to a finishing touch. All changes, were very minor, just wanting to make things "POP" as we say :{)))

Threes Company

Threes Company

Plumerias are a favorite landscaping plant in the area. Offering numerous opportunities to photograph them. This happening for a good part of our year, due to our latitude. With usually two or three months of cool enough weather to restrict their growth and flowering.

Hanging Out

Hanging Out

Just "Hanging Out" on the roadside, were these palm tree flowers bunches. Hard light, but great directionally, back lighting them. Though the SOOC was fine, they just needed a bit more punch. So off to Topaz Glow 2, for a once over. :{)))

La Natural

La Natural

Some Spider Cremones(Mums.) Fairly much SOOC, with little more than could be done in a darkroom. Using Photoshop and Lightroom, there was a bit of adjustment done to the RAW photo. Exposure, contrast, highlights and shadow adjustment were done, to bring out some depth to these beauties. :{)))
